Engaged during the Holidays?

Article I received from Nina Callaway.ember 19, 2009
Can you believe that Thanksgiving is just a week away? The thought fills me with both joy and dread, as it marks the official start of the holiday season here in the United States. Along with anticipating the joy of seeing loved ones and a great meal, I'm already feeling the weight of a long holiday-related to do list: shopping, cleaning, cooking, gift-giving, entertaining, schmoozing. Engaged couples usually already have an overly-full to do list of wedding tasks. So it's understandable that being engaged during the holidays can be both inspiring and deflating. How does a busy bride or groom manage it all? The word is triage. A triage nurse is the person in the emergency room who decides what's really an emergency, and what can wait a while. You need to take the same tactic with both wedding and holiday-related tasks. It's hard to remember sometimes that we aren't superwomen and supermen. If you're getting married in early 2010, probably the holidays are going to need to take a back seat to wedding planning. But if you've got a little more time, then go easy on yourself and your wedding checklist. You'll get it done, but maybe not all right this minute. Consider where you can multitask wedding and holiday responsibilities, and don't forget to do some stress-relieving deep breathing and stretching. Happy Holidays!http://weddings.about.com/b/2009/11/19/being-engaged-during-the-holidays.htm

Newly Engaged! Get your front row seat now!

In her words... Another beautifully written testimonial.

As soon as I got engaged, my mom was telling me "we HAD to go to this new bridal boutique downtown. She had walked by it a few times and couldn't wait for my now husband to pop the question so we would have a reason to go in!!"

As soon as we could, we got an appointment to go in and look at the beautiful collections. When I walked in it was such a calming experience but an exciting one at the same time....I knew I was going to find my dress here.

The girls at Mira's were so helpful....I told them an idea of what I was looking for and they brought me every dress matching my description. I only ended up trying on a few because the first one I put on was "the one". Mira and Jenna were so enthusiastic about finding me the perfect veil, shoes and jewelry, that would make my dream dress that much better!!

My bridesmaids, flower girls and the moms got there dresses there as well....every time we would walk in whether it was to go in for a fitting or just to stop by and say hello, everybody knew my whole group by first name.

On the day of my wedding Mira offered up her and her husband Mike to come and help out with anything possible....Mira helped with everything from pressing my brother's Air force uniform to getting everyone down the aisle.....Mike was also a huge help with the boys. It's a good thing he was there, I could only imagine how they would have looked in their tuxes had Mike not been there!! :)

It was such an incredible and personable experience; I couldn't have imagined anything better!!

Thank you so much Mira, Mike and the girls.....you all were such a huge part in making my special day unforgettable!!

BEAUTIFUL TESTIMONIAL FROM OUR CLIENTS

Mira was great! She was so helpful throughout the whole planning process and making sure things went smoothly. She has a knack for picking up on your personality. Mira helped me pick out a dress that fit me and my dream for the wedding PERFECTLY. She offers a completely personal service- it feels like you've got a friend by your side that's also handling all of the professional odds and ends. She really goes the extra miles to always be there and available to make sure your wedding day is what you've dreamed of. She's also great at rolling with the punches… during planning there is usually a thing or two that happens that's out of your control, but Mira is right there coming up with new options and she even lends her own hand to help.

She's really knowledgeable of all of the best local vendors and has a positive relationship with all of them. She's really creative herself, and her staff is really helpful. We also got our tuxedos through Mira's shop, and Dawn at the shop has many years of tux experience. Everything went great, all the guys looked sharp! We'd recommend anyone to go to Mira. If we were to be able to do all of this over again, we'd go with Mira!

One more reason why we do what we do

On Monday I received a voicemail from my 14 year old daughters elementary school friends grandmother.( Peggy is the grandmother, Imani is my daughters friend.) She said her other granddaughter, Raven, was nominated for high school homecoming queen. Ravens mom is paying for her other son's college at Sac State and she was struggling to get a beautiful dress for Raven for homecoming court. Dawn, one of On Monday I received a voicemail from my 14 year old daughters elementary school friends grandmother.( Peggy is the grandmother, Imani is my daughters friend.)  She said her other granddaughter, Raven, was nominated for high school homecoming queen. Dawn, one of my sales consultants, called Peggy back and told get about some fabulous dresses on our sale rack at $29.99. They discussed Ravens size and style and asked that we send a few pictures over. (grandmother Peggy was not feeling well and couldn't run downtown to the store ). Dawn took a few pictures and I sent them via text. The next morning Ravens mom came to the store. Since her figure was very close to her daughters she tried them on. After 3 or 4 she was certain she found the perfect dress for Raven. Dawn also sold her heels for $30. Jai, Ravens mom was so anxious, praying her daughter would love the dress.
Later that evening I received a text message from the # I had sent the images of dresses to. The text was a picture of Raven in the dress and heels, "she loves it!" the message said.
I then had received a voicemail from the grandmother , teary-eyed, thanking us for such an amazing dress and stating that Raven was so excited she yelled and fell to the floor with excitement! The call brought tears to my eyes.
Friday, 10/30, 9pm, I get another text from the #, "Raven won, my beautiful daughter is senior home-coming queen! Thank you so much for helping us make her day!"
then Raven sent a picture of herself thanking us too.
The gratitude left me speechless.
There is nothing more enjoyable and satisfying then appreciation.
Congratulation Raven, Homecoming Queen, Sierra High class f 2010!
Pictures to be posted soon. I could not figure out how to load them from my iPhone. ?? :)

black bridesmaid dresses?? ok or not

ses?
Answer:

Black is beautiful—even at a summer soiree. Just make sure that the dresses are fun, not funereal. The best way to do that is to opt for lightweight fabrics and designs that aren't too covered, or to mix things up with dresses featuring trim in a lighter hue. A strapless knee-length frock in cotton pique or polished cotton would be perfect for a daytime ceremony. If you're having an evening affair, chiffon and organza are two dressy, elegant options. Also, make sure that the entire party—particularly Mom—isn't in head-to-toe black. If she decides to go dark, try navy or a deep red bordeaux.

personal note. black is easy. bridesmaids love it, it's classic, anything matches and who doesn't love a little black dress now and then.

I love this article. It speaks to the integrity and respect around your wedding your gown and helping others rather acting on a trend that will fade quickly.

Don’t Trash the Dress

Saving Gowns, Preserving Memories

"Is This Any Way to Treat Vera Wang?"1 When Caren Chester, posed this question on June 10, 2007 to her New York Times readers, she could never have imagined how poignant her comment was to Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation.

Her article sparked by Mark Eric Photography's website "trash the dress.com" recommended that brides trash their wedding gown by, "swimming in it, wearing it on horseback, even burning it — all while her photographer clicks away."2 Although, we understand the creative concept behind the Trash the Dress photography movement,3we sincerely hope destruction of wedding dresses is a fad, which does not catch on.

It dismayed us to witness these beautiful designer garments treated with so little regard. Making Memories is asking brides, for whom warehousing these precious memories is a poor option, to consider donating their wedding dress to our Brides Against Breast Cancer division. Our Foundation resurrects these dresses, giving them new life as a bride's "dream gown" while the proceeds from the sale of these treasured possessions help grant wishes and memory making events for women and men who are losing their battle with breast cancer.

However, as explain by TTD website, most of the photos are simply pictures snapped in "somewhere out of the normal element." If care is used, these memorable photographs can still be shot while preserving the integrity of the gown and allowing it be passed along to another eager bride.

Tessa and Stuart Hall

I have worked for the Curti family before. Their daughter Katrina married Brian in SLO / Paso Robles 2 years ago. So I was excited to find out that Tessa, their second daughter of 3 was engaged. Stuart is a Vet in the Visalia area, but born / raised in England. Most of his family flew in from England for the wedding. The brides family is from Tulare / Visalia.
The wedding ceremony took place at Mission San Juan Bautista and the reception was in Aptos at Rancho Soquel. Romantic, fun, and personal. The Curti family knows how to put on a spectacular event and it is always a joy to work for them. From the deep traditions brought in during the ceremony to the dancing and entertainment choreographed at the reception, this was a wedding no one will ever forget.

Our first Multi-Cultural Wedding

Amrita Singh and Brian McIntyre
September 4th-6th
This wedding was such an amazing experience. From the Mendhi party, prayer rituals, the Indian ceremony, & ending with the American Ceremony. Amrita (Raj) was unbelievable. With maybe 2 hours of sleep a night over 5 days, hundreds of guests, multiple changes of heavy yet stunning gowns, she held the most beautiful smile ever.
The last day, the American wedding, held at Galletto's, Brian was escorted by their officiant to the sounds of his heritage, a bag pipe player. The bride walked solo to her closest friend, Nelson singing a song he wrote himself. A beautiful end to a fabulous weekend celebration.
