Engaged during the Holidays?

Article I received from Nina Callaway.ember 19, 2009
Can you believe that Thanksgiving is just a week away? The thought fills me with both joy and dread, as it marks the official start of the holiday season here in the United States. Along with anticipating the joy of seeing loved ones and a great meal, I'm already feeling the weight of a long holiday-related to do list: shopping, cleaning, cooking, gift-giving, entertaining, schmoozing. Engaged couples usually already have an overly-full to do list of wedding tasks. So it's understandable that being engaged during the holidays can be both inspiring and deflating. How does a busy bride or groom manage it all? The word is triage. A triage nurse is the person in the emergency room who decides what's really an emergency, and what can wait a while. You need to take the same tactic with both wedding and holiday-related tasks. It's hard to remember sometimes that we aren't superwomen and supermen. If you're getting married in early 2010, probably the holidays are going to need to take a back seat to wedding planning. But if you've got a little more time, then go easy on yourself and your wedding checklist. You'll get it done, but maybe not all right this minute. Consider where you can multitask wedding and holiday responsibilities, and don't forget to do some stress-relieving deep breathing and stretching.
